GAME DETAILS

General IC Gameplay Information

This game is celeb AU, meaning that before the shit hit the fan and the sickness killed everyone, your character was himself, famous for whatever he was famous for. However, now, he may still be famous, but that fame essentially means nothing. He's one of the crowd now, trying to survive and get by like everyone else.

Original characters & played-bys are permitted provided the pb used is a lesser-known face. Originals/PBs are encouraged and needed as well for "staff" roles in the game such as military personnel, medical staff, etc...

Above all, remember that this is now a militaristic society meaning that life is going to be a lot different than how it was known before. There are going to be a lot more personal restrictions, especially for breeders, specifically for their safety and the safety of their unborn children and ability to produce children, so breeders are going to take all priority over non-breeders in most cases.

In order to command some kind of control over breeders and non-breeders alike, the new government has mandated that all civilians are to report to their closest military base, where from there they will be assigned to those military bases that have housing. For the purposes of this game, housing is at the former Fort MacArthur military base outside of Los Angeles, associated with the Los Angeles Air Force Base, where there is also housing for overflow situations, and military barracks.

As far as personal posessions, your character may move in with anything of theirs that they can fit into the allotted apartments (assuming their other posessions are still at the homes that they resided in before). Everything will be the way it was in respect to electronics, internet, TV/Cable, music EXCEPT for the fact that for now, there will be no new programming. There will be radio, a few stations at first, covering music and more importantly, news (this would be a good job idea for someone, too), and news broadcasting on TV, but those will be the only current programming for the time being. TV/Cable should be assumed to be reruns, replays, and everything that's already been seen before including talk shows, (previously-recorded) live events and whatever else that's been recorded but has already been presented on-air somewhere.

Characters may obtain jobs in any kind of necessary field, "necessary" meaning jobs including, and not limited to the following: power plants, septic plants, sewer workers, sanitation, morgue (including teams to go from house to house and remove any dead), medical staff, military, food service, grocery/retail, farming, water department, mechanical work, cellular phones and internet service, computer production and repair, gas and oil companies, etc... Basically, the jobs that will be available are going to be of a blue-collar nature, in the technology fields as far as keeping things connected, sanitation, transportation services, education, or the medical field. If you have a question as to whether a job is appropriate or not, just ask a mod. It should go without saying that there will be very few to no "frivolous" jobs available such as unnecessary retail, pleasure activities and services like amusement parks or fancy salons/spas, musical groups/rock bands, acting, movie/music or other entertainment production, etc... Again, if there is a question about whether your idea is appropriate or not, ask a mod.

If a character does not find a suitable job themselves, a suitable job will be assigned for them by Administration Officers.

Characters may receive classes at the education center on a miriad of subjects, mostly trades and jobs that are most needed in the communities, free, simply by enrolling. There are also structured class schedules for boys through High School level. All classes and schooling happens at the Education Center at the LA-AFB. Boys are bused by shuttle on a regular schedule. Everyone else may either drive themselves, or take a shuttle from MacArthur to LA-AFB.

For the purposes of this game, this compound is located at the former Fort MacArthur Military base. The compound residents have access to the Los Angeles Air Force Base Campus however, which contains a base grocery, food court, education center, shopping court (housing basic retail establishments only; nothing specialized), movie theater, bank, etc... If you have a question about something as to whether it's likely to be found on the base campus, please ask before assuming). Characters may have jobs at any of these locations at LA-AFB. Also, there is other business outside of both bases, in Los Angeles, but the city is not what it used to be. The shopping district is still busy, but not with the same kinds of stores, which would mostly be considered frivolous. Businesses have one by one been replaced with more necessary things (as mentioned above). There are still things like bars and restraurants though, as well as the occasional strip club as well, catering to the bored masses.

Non-partnered non-breeders will remain in a database of those that are not partnered, and can be matched up at any time by the government. Therefore it's in a breeder's and a non-breeder's best interest for them to pair off themselves if they're looking to at least remain with someone they know, rather than being arbitrarily paired with someone they don't.

For the purposes of this game, domestic pairings/partnerships are considered official after both parties have filled out and signed paperwork in the presence of an Administration Officer. You can roleplay it, or just refer to it having happened, but it's not official until it's done, and for the raising of children, it's required. Domestic partnerships are not the same things as marriages or civil unions, however, so a pair may still wish to marry or obtain a civil union, though it is not necessary.

Domestic parnerships are consider to be, and documented as, one breeder male and one non-breeder male. On occasion, non-traditional partnerships may be permitted, but in order to obtain a non-traditional domestic partnership, all parties involved must appeal to the Administration Officers with a letter of request which will be decided upon.

Since concentration is on those with the ability to reproduce (healthy breeders and non-breeders), those that are deemed unsuitable to reproduce (genetic conditions, severe obesity, fertility or other problems) are considered unnecessary, and are therefore released from any kind of governmental provision or protection, other than under the normal law. These people must obtain their own housing, secure their own jobs (which are many times hard to come by), and are responsible for their own well-being. It's for this reason, and the fact that there are many more non-breeders and non-suitable than breeders, that the existance of whore houses have begun to crop up, both for those desperate to earn some kind of income and for those who need some kind of a sexual outlet.

In Regard to the Breeders:

Breeders are biologically hermaphradites through recessive mutation, which means yes, they have both sets of reproductive organs. If you want to make it simple, a breeder has male genetalia externally, a "hole" in the perenial area (and not as fully developed as actual female external genetalia), and then female internal reproductive organs. If you want to be more complex about it, google it! :D Also, it's highly unlikely that a breeder is going to be able to get anyone pregnant, since most hermaphradites are sterile like that, but it's not fool-proof. For the purposes of this game however, it's being assumed, but is yet unknown, whether these breeders are fertile with their female organs, however.

For the purposes of this game, a breeder is not permitted to get another breeder pregnant, and any that does will be reprimanded. (That doesn't mean it can't happen or isn't allowed as part of someone's plot, however. Just be prepared for your character to face the consequences when it's realized).

Breeders should see the doctor shortly after arrival at the camp for a health exam and reproductive physical, and maintain a regular OB-GYN schedule once pregnant. That can and probably should be played out with the doctor (if there is one in play), at least once, to get all characters around and playing with each other.

Breeders are not required to hold full-time jobs once they are pregnant, but they may do so if they wish. Breeders may not obtain any kind of job that would be considered risky to them. They may not be enlisted in the military or in any other law enforcement, may not work for any utility plant, sanitation plant, or have any other job that might put them at risk for injury or sickness in any way. Breeders may hold jobs in the medical field, but only "clean" jobs, such as reception, administration, tending injured or those without illness or anything that could potentially be considered contageous or otherwise dangerous to them.

In Regard to Non-Breeders:

Unfortunately for them, non-breeders are the low ones on the totem-pole, but they're important, too. Just not quite as important as breeders, since there are fewer of them. This means that while the best looking, healthiest, smartest, most talented and fittest non-breeders are going to be more sought than their opposite, these are also the ones that will be first picked to be put blindly with a breeder. Just think of it this way: since the government has a certain amount of jurisdiction in who gets to be with whom, those that aren't pairing on their own will be chosen from, and the best "specimens" will of course be wanted to match with the breeders who are unpaired.

Non-breeders will be the ones responsible for taking care of all the jobs that breeders are prohibited from doing, like heavy manual labor, dangerous jobs and anything else a breeder is restricted from. There are classes for many of these jobs at the Education Center at the LA-AFB for those non-breeders who need to learn a trade in order to take a better-paying job, or a job at all.

Non-breeders who for some reason cannot be paired (infertility, extreme obesity, other reason deemed to be genetically detrimental to the future child) are released from residence at the compounds and the surrounding communities. They will have ID cards stating that they are non-breeders, and also non-qualified, which means certain things outside the boundaries that the military patrol. Non-breeders who simply don't have a partner and are not paired because there is no use for them yet may be allowed to remain in the compounds, or released from residence there, each incidence dependent on each particular situation. In other words, someone who is particularly desireable will get a lot more from the government than someone who's not as much so, just to have him on hand to pair with a potential breeder who would come in.

Non-Breeders who are not paired with a breeder, and who do not forsee being paired with a breeder, may pair with each other. Non-breeders who are not either paired with a breeder, or being detained for future potential pairing with a breeder, will be released from the compound and any government-provided residence and supervision. So long as they are "able" to breed, however, these non-breeders will continue to receive small checks weekly, though they will basically need to fend for themselves. It is this population that will be encouraged to begin eventually rebuilding the economic community surrounding each compound area by having essential businesses and providing essential services, some of these government-assisted until they can become profitable.
