PREMISE/PLOT

NOTATION: This game plot is based on the original game idea from which it came from, which we are not claiming is ours, but only that certain players wanted more "game" to play to than what was being provided. Some ideas have been slightly changed to make it a little bit more original. Other ideas have been completely changed and/or expanded upon. GAME PREMISE: In the not-so distant future, as a consequence of man's disregard for the earth, and as the eventual result of extreme over-population, global warming and destruction of the natural environment, the human species is not the same as it once was. There have been steadily-rising incidences of birth, genetic and reproductive defects which have resulted in greater incidence of genetically-caused gender confusion, genetic reproductive defects such as hermaphroditism (and the carrying of this recessive gene), and poor fertility the world over. A leading pharmaceutical company had been researching these problems with the intent to discover the reasons behind the mutations and defects in the hopes to reverse them before the world's populations were adversely affected. During their research and experimentation, a serum was produced and tested on laboratory animals (most specifically rodents, as their genetic make-up is most similar to that of humans) but the results were devastating. The experiment was discontinued as a failure. The compound that was produced not only killed some test subjects, but also changed the genetic structure in others, eventually killing off all female test subjects and sickening many of the males. It was very unclear what went wrong at the time of the experiment, so a new research team was formed to try to learn from the mistake, and possibly correct it with the creation of a better serum. It happened that during this research however, the serum formula was stolen, then sold to a government - at this point it doesn't really matter which - and it was produced as a biological weapon of war. Once the serum was released - into waterways, into the food supplies, and into the air - death became eminent for many; all female and some male. The serum mutated itself and began spreading like wildfire from person to person, untouched by any modern antibiotic, until there was no stopping it and all continents had contracted the "disease". Within months of the initial outbreak, all females of the human species, as well as those belonging to many species of rodent, rabbit, all ape and monkey species and many other species with similar biological makeup to humans, were dead. Certain males, specifically those with the recessive genetic makeup for hermaphroditism (and not necessarily ones that already are that way already), were sickened to near death. Some of them, the weak, the very young and the very old, actually passed on but miraculously, most recovered. Strangest of all, it was learned that these males now had, forming inside them, actual female reproductive tracts, their recessive traits having mutated and assumed a dominant role. The world's human population has been cut down by three-fifths in one swoop. Most of the world's commerce has come to a standstill between the drastic drop in population and the additional problem of the dead, both human and animal, who now litter the planet. But most importantly the question remains, how is the human species now to survive? Does this now mean that man can bear his own offspring? Are these men even fertile? The answers to these questions have yet to be seen, but it seems the only hope human beings have rest in the hands, and the bodies, of those who are now apparently capable of bearing children. Four months have now passed since the first deaths have been reported, and there are still women dying in the far reaches of distant lands; it's expected that within another few weeks there won't be a single female left to speak of. No means of protection has worked, no attempts at hiding them away has managed to keep them from contracting the virus and then succumbing to it. Those remaining, the men in positions of power, have quickly come together with the top doctors to try to come up with a plan to save the human race, their result being the Eden Project. It's drastic and only roughly thought out, but then so is the fact that the human race could very well be starting on the slow road to extinction if someone doesn't figure something out. So they are doing the best they can, as fast as they can, while attempting to not put the remaining world at large into a full-fledged panic. Today, populations are now gathered in safe zones, and it's in one of these safe zones that the story begins. The government has changed, but then again, everything has. According to this new, militaristic government, all those regulations and restrictions they've assigned? All that mandatory "Family Planning"? It's for your own protection, for the good of your fellow man, and for the protection of the child you will create and raise, whether you want to or not. You have no choice now. You're part of the next experiement now, like it or not. Given the circumstances though, how can you refuse? That's just it. You can't. Long gone are the days when a woman's body was her own. Now a man's body belongs to the military, for the life or death of the species.
